We are currently recruiting for a science teacher AND a 6th Grade Teacher!

The Sacramento River Discovery Charter School (SRDCS) in Red Bluff, California, is looking for an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our staff. The 2008/2009 school year will be our eighth year of operation; we are a small school of approximately 100 students in grades 6-12.

The mission of the school is to develop a populace that better understands, appreciates, and manages natural resource systems. We accomplish this through hands-on, integrated studies connected to the local environment and to the larger world.

Charter schools are free, public schools; however, charter school teachers have the opportunity to teach from alternative forms of curriculum not on the state-approved textbook lists.

I.         APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

A.      Complete the application in full and return to SRDCS, 1660 Monroe St., Red Bluff, CA 96080

B.      Submit transcript(s) showing all college work. These may be a student/unofficial copy. Official transcript(s) mailed directly from the college(s) you attended will be necessary upon employment.

1.      Beginning Teachers

a)      College supervisor, cooperating teacher and a personal reference of your choice.

b)      College credentials (placement) file.

2.      Experienced Teachers

a)      Most recent principal, most recent supervisor or department head, a third personal reference of your choice.

b)      College credentials (placement) files if you have graduated in the last five years or if you wish to send it. (If all of the references requested appear in your college credentials file, it is not necessary to request them again.)

C.     Submit a copy of your California teaching credential(s). (Please submit both sides)

II.       APPLICATION REVIEW

A.      An application will be considered complete when it has been submitted with all information and all requested documents have been received. All completed applications are reviewed.

B.     A current California teaching credential is required for employment as a teacher with Sacramento River Discovery Charter School. C.     Applications for the position of SCIENCE TEACHER will be accepted until the position is filled.

III.      EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

A.      All applicants are required to provide a complete chronological listing of their educational background and experience. Be sure to indicate whether teaching experience was full-time or part-time. Only verified teaching experience in schools accredited by public agencies may be considered for salary credit. Beginning teachers should list student teaching; however this will not be considered for salary credit.

IV.    EMPLOYMENT WITH SACRAMENTO RIVER DISCOVERY CHARTER SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS

A.      You must be fingerprinted and complete a criminal history and a child protection check prior to employment.

B.      A current (within 6 months) tuberculosis clearance must be submitted to SRDCS at time of employment.

C.     Official transcript(s) mailed directly from the college that you attended.

D.     Verification of previous teaching employment.
